Governor Zamora and Ambassador Wayne

Ambassador Wayne met with Santiago del Estero’s Governor Gerardo Zamora, members of his staff, national and provincial congressmen, and local entrepreneurs on April 6 during his first visit to the province. The Ambassador and the Governor talked about recent developments in the province and the Governor’s priorities for the upcoming year; especially about the Governor’s interest in bringing foreign investment. The Ambassador and the Governor also talked about the international outlook. The Ambassador thanked Binational Center ASICANA in Santiago del Estero for the work carried out to help more Argentine students study English and participate in exchange youth programs.  "In my first visit to Santiago del Estero, I am pleased to present 20 certificates to these young students participating in our Sarmiento-Mann English scholarship program at Binational Center ASICANA. Learning languages help bring cultures closer enhancing understanding,” said the Ambassador.

The Ambassador also offered his sincere condolences for the recent death of former President Raul Alfonsin to the Governor and his colleagues from the Radical party. Ambassador Wayne also said he recalled with fondness his visit to Dr. Alfonsin in mid 2007, shortly after his arrival to Argentina. "In a time when Argentina is mourning the death of a great leader and honors his legacy:  the restoration of democracy in Argentina, I recall a quote from John Quincy Adams: ‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”  I will always remember Raúl Alfonsín as a gentleman and a statesman with a great love of his country and hopes of a free, prosperous and fair Argentina,” said the Ambassador.
