University students from Argentina will participate in a Seminar for Student Leaders in Boston
After a very competitive process, the Argentine Fulbright Commission selected 7 highly qualified undergraduate students from Argentina for a U.S. Government-sponsored seminar entitled “The Quest for Human Rights and Social Justice”. Starting on January 7th, the selected participants from Argentina, and an equivalent number of students from Chile and Uruguay had attended this 5 week seminar hosted by Wheelock College in Boston.
During four weeks, the students will be exposed to strategies implemented by the United States to protect freedom, create justice and ensure equality. Through seminar discussions, readings, presentations, and lectures, they will also learn about empowerment models for civic engagement, leadership development and community service from a cross-cultural perspective.
The last part of the program will consist of a study tour to New York and a final conference in Washington D.C. where the students will meet with equally talented peers from Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Peru who participated in similar seminars at George Mason and North Carolina Central Universities.
