Videoconference at the Embassy

The Embassy organized on October 29 a videoconference on “The U.S. Presidential Elections, Party Platforms and the Profiles of the Candidates” with presentations by Ms. Susana Mendoza (State Representative of the Democratic Party, Illinois) and Mr. David Rivera (State Representative of the Republican Party, Florida.) After both general introductions there was a very dynamic Q&A session with the audience of Buenos Aires, mainly composed by journalists, politicians, diplomats, academics and NGOs representatives. Rep. Mendoza and Rep. Rivera illustrated the audience on the electoral vote and the relevance of each state election for the final national result, anticipated voting, its preferences and evolution before and after the financial crises, as well as candidates positions on Taxation, Foreign Policies towards Latin America and the war in Middle East. Both speakers enhanced the importance of Latino vote for the general results and the new perspectives for the Region after the election.
