THE AGREEMENTS

Judicial – The Ambassador attended the transfer from the executive to the judicial power of the CODIS fingerprint identification records system. CODIS is an international system established in 1998 by the FBI with the assistance of many forensic labs from the U.S. and other countries which has become a very important tool that blends forensic and computer sciences for fighting crime. “We are proud that the province of Cordoba is willing to collaborate with the FBI in the use of this important cooperation tool against crime.”—said the Ambassador and added: “This system will be highly significant in the efforts carried out by provincial authorities to improve public security.”

The Ambassador highlighted the CODIS agreement as “a specific example of the results of the existing excellent collaboration and friendship between the FBI and its counterparts in the province of Cordoba.”

Education – Ambassador Wayne signed an agreement by which the Fulbright Commission and the Provincial Ministry of Science and Technology ratify and expand an inter-institutional cooperation program to promote education exchanges between the province of Cordoba and the United States. The Ambassador congratulated the Provincial Minister of Science and Technology Tulio Abel del Bono for the agreement reached that will strongly increase postgraduate exchanges between universities from Cordoba and the United States. In total, eight researchers and 15 headmasters and deputy-headmasters from Argentine and U.S. schools will participate in these exchanges thanks to this agreement.

The Ambassador also congratulated the Justice Minister of the Province Luis Angulo for the public campaign carried out by the provincial government to help women victims of violence report abuses to the police.
