AMBASSADOR WAYNE SAYS GOODBYE TO ARGENTINE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES
May 26, 2009
As one in a series of courtesy visits starting last week, Ambassador Wayne met on May 26 with Supreme Court Chief Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti and Justices Elena Highton de Nolasco and Carmen Maria Argibay to say goodbye as he prepares to depart the country.
“I expressed Argentine Supreme Court Justices my recognition for the hard work, the energy and dedication the Court puts every day to strengthen the judicial system, one of the essential pillars of a stable and solid democracy.” said Ambassador Wayne.
Ambassador Wayne highlighted the Court’s efforts to fully modernize the judicial system through initiatives like the National Judicial Management Plan, the Office of Domestic Violence and the Access to Justice Map.
Ambassador Wayne and Court justices talked about Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti’s recent trip to the United States and the upcoming Conference of Supreme Courts of the Americas to be held in September in Buenos Aires. Justice Lorenzetti commented on the fruitful meetings with judicial authorities and representatives of the Obama Administration who expressed their support for the September Conference.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the Court’s commitment with judicial exchanges with the United States aimed at sharing ideas and strengthening the ties of friendship between the judicial systems of both countries.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador wished the magistrates all the best in their future initiatives for the continuing improvement of the Argentine judicial system. The Embassy looks forward to continue to work with U.S. judges at the conference to be held in September in Buenos Aires and in other ongoing projects like “Justice Undergoing Change” and “Judges Go to School.”
