U.S. MARINES AND AMBASSADOR WAYNE BRING SPIRIT OF CARING AND GIVING TO TREN BLANCO KIDS
December 19, 2008
Toys for Tots U.S. Marine Corps Christmas toy collection has become a tradition with the Marines all over the world working to bring joy to underprivileged children.
The enthusiasm and the smiles of the children made the efforts put into the collection more than worthwhile, explained Gunnery Sergeant Fernando Litchfield.
On December 19, the U.S. Marines and Ambassador Wayne distributed over 120 toys donated by North American and Argentine employees of the U.S. Embassy to kids at Tren Blanco, a care center in San Justo for the children of cartoneros working nights. The Marine toys found new homes with these kids at the annual Tren Blanco Christmas Party organized by Fiona Ambrosi and Todos Juntos, an organization helping the most disadvantaged people from the area to improve their daily living conditions. Ambassador
Wayne, three Marines (Sergeant Rigby, Corporal Williams and Sergeant Guallpa) and their leader, Gunnery Sergeant Litchfield, dressed in their finest dress uniforms, received an enthusiastic welcome from the Tren Blanco kids anxiously awaiting the big bags of toys
Toys for Tots started over sixty years ago. Today, Marines collect toys all around the world and in the United States each year at Christmas. By giving toys to needy children, Marines share the joy of Christmas and help encourage the worlds most valuable resource - children.
The Marine toys deliver a message of hope to needy children that will hopefully motivate them to grow into responsible, productive citizens and community leaders. Tren Blanco, Todos Juntos, Ambassador Wayne and the U.S. Marines show that the spirit of giving and caring is alive and well.
