AMBASSADOR WAYNE REMARKS AT THE MEETING WITH TOTO AND STUDENTS
November 6, 2007
Thanks everyone for being here today.
As US Ambassador and a music fan, it is a pleasure for me to introduce you to the members of TOTO, a Grammy Award winning American rock band. They are Bobby Kimball, vocals; Steve Lukather, guitar and vocals; Simon Phillips, drums and percussion; Greg Phillinganes, keyboards and vocals; Leland Sklar, bass and Tony Spinner, guitars and vocals.
TOTO has been playing together since 1976 . The band has released 17 albums, has sold over 30 million records and is famous all around the world. When I heard that TOTO was coming to Buenos Aires, I asked if they would be willing to meet with a special group of students to talk about their careers, their music and the joys and challenges of performing. They graciously accepted.
To TOTO: We have a group of students from the Primary School Mother Teresa of Virreyes, a group of secondary school students from Saint Andrews High School and a group of university students from the School of Music of the Argentine Catholic University.
First, perhaps TOTO can talk a little about yourselves, your training and the band and then I’m sure you (students) will have some interesting questions for Toto.
