TEACHER AMBASSADOR PROGRAM 

The U.S. Embassy is offering scholarships for EFL teachers to participate in a two week study program in Austin, Texas.  The objective of the program is to strengthen English teaching skills; to learn new ideas regarding pedagogy and methodologies using U.S.-content teaching materials; to foster a better understanding of the U.S.; and to establish ongoing connections between English teachers in Argentina and the U.S.

BENEFITS:

• Daily meals and incidentals allowance
• Round trip air fare from city of origin
• Health insurance

REQUIREMENTS:

* Degree in English from a 4 year college or university
* 3-5 years English teaching experience
* Valid passport
* Argentine citizenship
* Excellent English
* Strong commitment to teaching
* Under 45 years old
* A follow-up activity upon your return to Argentina to share
   what you learned in the U.S. with your colleagues.
* Preference will be given to candidates with no previous
   travel to the United States. Grantees will not be allowed to
   take their families with them to the United States during
   the program.

APPLICATION PROCESS: 

The application deadline is December 11, 2009

Interested candidates should fill in application form (*) and send it to ExchangesBA@state.gov with the subject line “Teacher Ambassadors Program 7” plus your hometown province. Selected candidates may be invited to participate in a telephone interview or a personal interview in Buenos Aires as part of the selection process.

Finalists will be announced during the third week of December 2009.

Selected participants will have to travel to Buenos Aires for the visa process the second or third week of January 2010.

The 14 selected participants will have to be in Buenos Aires on Monday, February 1 to depart on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, for the United States.
Program dates in Austin: Wednesday, February 3, thru February 17, 2010
The 14 selected participants will arrive in Buenos Aires the morning of Thursday, February 18, 2010, and will participate in a debriefing session in the afternoon.
The selected participants will depart for their home towns on Friday, February 19, 2010

- After completing the application form click on the word “SAVE”.  A text box will pop up.  Please indicate whether you will send the form through Microsoft Outlook or from an Internet account (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc.). When using Microsoft Outlook an e-mail window will open with the attachment.  Please type the email address ExchangesBA@state.gov and click on send. When using an Internet account, the form will have to be saved and later sent as an attachment to the address ExchangesBA@state.gov
