AMBASSADOR CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING WITH FULBRIGHT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
November 25, 2008
On the evening of November 25 Ambassador Wayne addressed and shared roast turkey and cranberries with Argentine and American Fulbright grantees and alumni. In an event hosted with Fulbright students and researchers as well as many illustrious alumni, Ambassador Wayne spoke of the importance of the Fulbright program in exposing Argentine students and researchers to "our belief in the capacity of individuals to shape their own destinies and remake our world."
"Although this is a time of economic uncertainty, both our countries have many blessings to be thankful for. For the Argentines, next Wednesday you will celebrate 25 years of uninterrupted democracy. As for us Americans, we have just completed a thrilling and historic presidential election."
After ambassador Wayne spoke, both current Fulbright grantees and alumni shared their observations on the meaning of the holiday and their memories of the hospitality they experienced on this important day.
