Ambassador Wayne and American Ambassadors in the Southern Cone Meet with Undersecretary for Economic Integration for WH and Mercosur

Ambassador Wayne and his colleagues from tthe Souther Cone meet with Undersecretary Sigal

Ambassador Wayne met on March 20 with  Ambassador Eduardo Sigal, Undersecretary for Economic Integration for Western Hemisphere and Mercosur; Ambassador Noemi Gomez, Director of  Latin-American Policy and Multilateral Affairs, and with other high ranking officials from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Wayne was accompanied in the informal discussion by his fellow United States chiefs of mission serving in Bolivia, Brazil, and Chile. The American Ambassadors are in Buenos Aires for internal consultations on U.S. policies and technical assistance throughout the Southern Cone.  

“As part of our intensive consultations with the Argentina Ministry of Foreign Affairs about preparations for the G-20 Summit, the Summit of the Americas, and the coordination of our responses to the global crises, this was a unique and beneficial opportunity to share insights into Argentina's views of the region with my colleagues in Brasilia, Santiago, and La Paz.  Many problems faced in the Southern Cone are regional in nature, including drug and human trafficking, and we benefited from learning about Argentina's constructive approach to collaborating with its neighbors,” said Ambassador Wayne.
