Susan Sontag Prize for Translation

The Embassy is sponsoring the award ceremony of the Susan Sontag Prize for Translation. This year the Susan Sontag Foundation is awarding its prize to a young American writer for her translation of Argentine author Juan Jose Saer’s La Mayor. The award ceremony, organized by TyPA Foundation, will be held at the PROA Foundation on November 6 at 7:00 pm. 

In addition TyPA Foundation is organizing a two-day workshop that will include lectures on Juan Jose Saer’s works; translation as a link between Argentina and the US; and a special roundtable on the life and works of Susan Sontag.  Keynote speakers in this workshop will include David Rieff, journalist and son of Susan Sontag; Anne Jump, Director of the Susan Sontag Foundation and Aurelio Major, translator of Susan Sontag’s works into Spanish.
