AMBASSADOR MARTINEZ MEETS WITH THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION
November 3, 2009

Ambassador Vilma Martinez met with the Minister of Education, Dr. Alberto Sileoni, on November 2nd. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of education to develop a strong democracy and thanked the Minister for Argentina’s continued support for educational exchange programs, such as the Fulbright Programs among others.

Ambassador Martinez also described the efforts that the Embassy is undertaking in order to increase opportunities to study English through the programs Access and Sarmiento-Mann, which give public high school students the opportunity to study at different binational centers in various provinces within Argentina, and stated that the inscription for these scholarships is now open.

“Education is a fundamental issue for both countries. It is because of this that we support programs like Fulbright, that send Argentines to the United States, and brings teachers and students from the United States to this country; and scholarships to study English, through the programs Access and Sarmiento Mann. It is my desire to be able to expand our cooperation with the Minister of Education,” stated Ambassador Martinez.
