ASSISTANT SECRETARY SHANNON MEETS PRESIDENT CRISTINA FERNANDEZ DE KIRCHNER AND OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Thomas Shannon, accompanied by Ambassador Wayne, met on August 27 with President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner at the Government House. During the meeting, which lasted for about 50 minutes, they talked about bilateral relations and regional issues. They also mentioned the next Bilateral Relations High Level Meeting to be held in Washington in November, and President Fernandez de Kirchner´s trip to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
Assistant Secretary Shannon also met with Minister of Foreign Relations Jorge Taiana to discuss several issues of bilateral interest. Shannon also greeted Sergio Massa, new Chief of Cabinet, and discussed with him how to increase bilateral commerce and investment.
