EMBASSY DONATES BOOKS TO PUBLIC SCHOOL IN SANTA FE ON ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY

The U.S. Embassy donated more than 80 books to the Escuela Normal Superior in the city of Santa Fe, on September 25, 2006, to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the school. Professor Spencer Salas from the University of Georgia and Noris Zerdá, Cultural Affairs Assistant at the Embassy, accompanied by ALICANA Director Maria Ines Fenes, visited the school and donated the books.  More than 700 students (K-12 and Secondary) attend this public school.  Both fiction and non-fiction, the books included classics of U.S. literature translated into Spanish such as "Tom Sawyer," "Little Women," and "Charlotte’s Web.” They were received by the students with great enthusiasm and will be incorporated into the school library's circulating collection.
