Ambassador Wayne visited Salta on July 28-29.  The official inauguration of a new turbine in the Central Termica Güemes (CTG), headed by President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Governor Juan Manuel Urtubey and other high ranking officials, was the highlight of a visit that included many activities.

Ambassador Wayne highlighted the key role of American company General Electric in the construction of the new turbine, and the company’s contribution to the improvement of the energy infrastructure in Argentina.

The Ambassador was warmly welcomed by Governor Urtubey, and had a very good conversation with him. Among several activities, Ambassador Wayne had breakfast with members of the baseball league, and visited Wal Mart’s Chango Más supermarket and a soup kitchen for children sponsored by Wal Mart.

Later, Ambassador Wayne visited the National Border Guard’s North Border Task Force, composed by National Border Guard and Provincial Police officers. The Ambassador praised bilateral cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.

The Ambassador concluded his visit to Salta touring the Higher Mountain Archeology Museum, where the famous “Llullaillaco children” mummies are exhibited.
