AMBASSADOR WAYNE VISITS ROSARIO
November 21, 2006

Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne made his first official trip outside Buenos Aires since his arrival in Argentina, visiting the city of Rosario on November 21-22. During his two-day trip, Ambassador Wayne visited two US companies based in Rosario, General Motors and Cargill; met with Rosario Mayor Miguel Lifschitz; took part in a lunch organized by Fundación Libertad; met with Stock Exchange authorities; toured the ARICANA Binational Center; and make a book donation to a local public school.

“This is a beautiful city,” the Ambassador said after his meeting with the Mayor. The Ambassador noted that Rosario has a lot to offer in terms of business, trade, and cultural and educational exchange with the United States. “We explored possibilities aimed at strengthening exchanges linked to education, governance and business,” said the Ambassador. In a speech at Fundación Libertad, the Ambassador highlighted the relevance of civil society in fostering dynamic development and social cohesion. “Yours is clearly a vital and rapidly growing city,” he said.

After visiting General Motors and Cargill, Ambassador Wayne praised the companies’ community work. “The work of these firms is a good example of how US investment in Argentina can bring not only benefit to both our countries but also foster a strong bond between our nations,” he said.
