U.S. CITIZENS: CAST YOUR BALLOT FOR PRESIDENT AT THE U.S. EMBASSY, OCTOBER 8!
DON’T FORGET TO REGISTER!
American citizens should register to vote now for the November 4 presidential and general elections. Many states close voter registration 30 days before the general election and overseas voters must allow extra time for voting forms to reach the United States by mail.
Registered voters who miss the experience of going to the polling stations back home may cast their ballots from 9 a.m. to noon October 8th in a special Voting Day in the U.S. Embassy, 4300 Av. Colombia in Palermo. Voters will enjoy an opportunity to pop their votes in a ballot box amid red, white and blue bunting, hear from Ambassador E. Anthony Wayne, sample American food treats and mingle with other U.S. citizens. Write-in ballots will be provided for registered voters who have not yet received their absentee ballots. ACS will forward all ballots to state election officials. U.S. citizens who would like to take part in Voting Day are asked to RSVP by e-mail to VoteBuenosAires@state.gov
Voters who can't make it to Voting Day on October 8th may drop off their voted ballots in American Citizen Services in the Consular Section (Window 15) any weekday between 8:30 a.m. and noon and 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Voters who have not yet registered to vote and requested an absentee ballot should complete a Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) on the Federal Voting Assistance Program’s website at www.fvap.gov. You may also pick up a hard copy of the FPCA from the U.S. Embassy.
You should also complete a new Federal Postcard Application if you have moved or changed your name since the last time you voted.
FPCAs may be mailed to your local voting officials in the U.S. through the regular international mail or from the U.S. Embassy. Some states also accept FPCAs by fax or e-mail.
Your local voting officials should mail your absentee ballot 30 to 45 days before the November 4 general election to your overseas address. Return your voted ballot as early as possible. Be aware of your state’s ballot receipt deadline, as well as any postmarking requirements.
The Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) serves as an emergency ballot for voters who register in time but fail to receive an official ballot from local election officials. You can access the FWAB using www.fvap.gov as well.
The Embassy's Voting Assistance Officer is also available to answer questions about absentee voting. To contact the Voting Assistance Officer, call 5777-4818 or send an e-mail to VoteBuenosAires@state.gov
