AMBASSADOR WAYNE VISITS RONALD MC DONALD´S PEDIATRIC MOBILE MEDICAL UNIT IN PILAR
Ambassador Wayne August 23 visited Ronald McDonald’s Pediatric Mobile Medical Unit in Pilar. With the support of the “Hospital Universitario Austral” and “Fundación Por Pilar”, Ronald Mc Donald´s House provides primary health care to residents of poor neighborhoods who have problems accessing health care. The pediatric mobile clinic provides odontologic medical treatment, follow-up, vaccination and sends surgical patients or cases of high-complexity to Austral Hospital. The mobile unit also implements a Health Education Module for parents and children through workshops held in the various neighborhoods visited by the unit. The August 23 workshop focused on children’s dental care. The Pediatric Mobile Medical Unit seeks to provide medical assistance to more than 6,000 kids yearly. The Ambassador noted that “the Mobile Medical Unit and the workshops are a great example of a public-private partnership that can benefit the entire community.”
