Ambassador Wayne announced on August 1st a Contest for Cultural Heritage Preservation Projects, organized by the US Embassy and Fundacion TyPA (Teoria y Practica de las Artes), with the support of the Fulbright Commission.

“This is the first project we are initiating since the signing in July of a memorandum of understanding on cultural exchange and cooperation between Argentina and the U.S in which both countries have agreed to promote cultural exchanges to strengthen the bilateral relation and understanding between the people of both nations,” said Ambassador Wayne.

Aimed at creating incentives to plan for the preservation of Argentina´s cultural heritage, the U.S. Embassy and Fundacion TyPA have opened the national call for projects for cultural preservation in museums, cultural institutions, and heritage sites. The selection of projects will be made by specialists Americo Castilla (Argentina), Elaine Gurian (USA), and Vivian Spoliansky (Argentina).

A grant of up to 10.000 dollars will be made to the project that presents the best technical and administrative planning and provides better appreciation and public use of cultural heritage.

Interested institutions can send their proposals no later than August 20, 2008.
