Notarial Services

Notarial Services are available to anyone (regardless of citizenship) with documents destined for use in the United States. They are executed by consular officers.
Documents can only be notarized in the presence of a consular officer.
We generally do not legalize documents for private use in Argentina.

NOTARY APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

For notarial services from the U.S. Embassy you must make an appointment.

Please follow this link to schedule an appointment for notary services.

Please note: Appointments must be scheduled on line; they cannot be scheduled by telephone. Appointments are only scheduled during notarial service hours: Monday through Thursday at 2:30pm.

The Embassy is closed on all Argentine and U.S. public holidays.

Please plan to arrive for screening at the Embassy on 4300 Colombia Ave. 15 minutes before the time of your appointment. Once granted access to the Embassy, you will be directed to the American Citizen Services waiting area, where you will be called by number in the order in which you arrived.

Persons seeking notarial services who do not have an appointment will not be granted access to the Embassy.


If an appointment is not available before the date on which your documents must be notarized, please email Buenosaires-acs@state.gov . On the subject line of your e-mail write "Emergency Notarial Appointment." In the e-mail briefly explain why you are
requesting the emergency appointment, write the date and time for which you wish to schedule the emergency appointment, and note the number of documents you need notarized.


Also include your telephone number. We will contact you as soon as possible.
If you are not sure if your document can be notarized at the Embassy, please send an email to Buenosaires-acs@state.gov . On the subject line of your e-mail write “Notarial question” and explain what kind of document you wish to have notarized and where are you going to use it. We will inform you of whether the document can be notarized at the Embassy.

We can accommodate a limited number of emergency appointment requests each day, so please, plan ahead. You can always cancel or reschedule an appointment if needed by following the instructions. .

The day of your appointment please bring:
• The documents to be notarized.
• A valid passport or piece of identity issued by a government agency: A driver's license, passport, DNI or cédula de identidad are acceptable, a student ID is not.
• The name on the identification should read the same full name the document reads and MUST bear your current signature.
• If your document must also be witnessed, please bring your own witnesses. Consular officers and staff cannot act as witnesses.
