TREASURY A/S O'BRIEN DISCUSSES U.S.-ARGENTINE COOPERATION ON TERRORIST FINANCING

Patrick M. O'Brien, Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing, Department of the Treasury, held a press conference at the US Embassy March 9, during which he discussed the cooperation between the United States and Argentina on this issue and on money laundering. Mr. O'Brien visited Buenos Aires to take part in the regional summit on the Prevention of Terrorist Financing, held at the Central Bank, along with authorities from several countries. The summit was led by Argentine Central Bank Director Martin Redrado and Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana. During Mr. O'Brien's stay in the country, he met with Mr. Redrado, Mr. Taiana, Economy Minister Felisa Miceli and other members of the government, as well as with representatives of banking and exchange institutions.
