Ambassador  Vilma Martinez met on January 28 with Dr. Alberto Nisman, since 2005 the General Prosecutor in the case of the terrorist attack against the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA), an attack that left 85 dead and hundreds wounded.  In her first meeting the General Prosecutor, the Ambassador emphasized that the United States was committed to assisting Argentina in bringing the suspects in the bombing to justice, including the Government of Argentina's request that Iran hand over Iranian suspects to the Argentine justice system.  Dr. Nisman offered a brief description of the investigation and recent advances.

"The Government and the People of the United States understand the pain associated with the terrorist attack against the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA) and have consistently demonstrated their commitment to help advance the process of justice against those responsible.  This meeting was a very useful opportunity for me to learn more about the work of Dr. Nisman and his team and their important investigation," said Ambassador Martinez.
