AMBASSADOR MARTINEZ MET WITH THE MINISTER OF DEFENSE

On October 23rd, Ambassador Vilma Martínez met with the Minister of Defense, Nilda Garré, in her office on Libertador Avenue. The Ambassador related to the Minister that the United States places great importance on relations with civil defense authorities and Argentine armed forces. The Ambassador also praised her recent, successful visit to Washington DC to meet her U.S. counterpart, Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
This was the first meeting between the Minister and Ambassador on the eve of bilateral meetings and talks of the Joint Chiefs of both countries scheduled for the last week of October and first week of November.
"I would like to thank and congratulate Minister Garré and her portfolio for her work towards continuing our strong cooperation in defense activities, and where possible, expand and deepen connections in areas of mutual interests and benefits," said Ambassador Martinez.
