AMBASSADOR WAYNE VISITS NATURE VALLEY-GENERAL MILLS PLANT

June 28, 2007

Ambassador Wayne visited on June 28 the new granola-bar manufacturing plant facilities that the U.S. company Nature Valley-General Mills operates in the Buenos Aires city area of San Fernando. The plant was opened last March and has created hundreds of jobs in the region. It exports most of its production to more than 20 countries around the world and is expected to expand exports to even more countries in the near future. After touring the facilities, Ambassador Wayne congratulated corporate executive officers for their decision to invest in Argentina; highlighting that Nature Valley is the first plant to be based abroad.

“This is an excellent example of how U.S. firms help Argentina integrate into global economy,” U.S. Ambassador said.

General Mills usually employs about 1,000 local workers through its three major affiliates “Pillsbury,” “La Salteña,” and “Nature Valley,” as well as through its “Delicity” franchises in Argentina.
