AMBASSADOR WAYNE BIDS FAREWELL TO STUDENTS VISITING NASA

Ambassador Wayne met on January 31 with a group of students from San Luis Province who will travel to the U.S. to visit NASA facilities and the Kennedy Space Center. The nine students are winners of the provincial Science Olympics, sponsored by Universidad de Punta in San Luis. During their stay in the United States, the students will attend the launch of the Atlantis space shuttle on February 7. The group of students was accompanied by University Rector Alicia Bañuelos, Academic Secretary Fernando Salino, Technical Cooperation Representative Matias Novoa Haidar and teachers Luciana Vera and Sandra Solivellas. The Universidad de la Punta initiated the Science Olympics in 1996 to encourage students to study the sciences. More than two thousand students, ages 6 – 19 from San Luis participated in this on-line educational contest this year.
