The Coordinator for the Summit of the Americas meets with Viceminister Taccetti

Ambassador Hector Morales, the United States Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and Coordinator for the Summit of the Americas, together with  dDeputy Chief of mission Thomas Kelly, called March 5 on the Deputy Foreign Minister, Secretary Victorio Taccetti.

Ambassadors Taccetti and Morales are the Argentina and US coordinators for the 5th Summit of the Americas, which will take place April 17-19 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.  

The meeting´s goal was to advance the two countries' collaboration on behalf of a successful and productive Summit.  

During the meeting, the officals disucssed Summit preparations and the advances made. Ambassador Morales described the priorities and objectives of the United States Government in relation to the Fifth Summit, and voiced appreciation for Argentina's leadership on Summit issues and for its commitment to a successful outcome. 

“I was pleased to confirm our two governments' shared desire to make the Fifth Summit of the Americas a successful and productive event," said Ambassador Morales, "one that would advance common hemispheric objectives, social development for all peoples, and specially for disadcataged sectors. We also talked about energy, environment and public security.  Argentina and the United States view the meeting in Trinidad and Tobago as a positive and important step toward greater hemispheric understanding and cooperation.”
