AMBASSADOR VILMA MARTINEZ MEETS CHIEF JUSTICE RICARDO LORENZETTI

Ambassador Vilma Martinez called on Chief Justice Lorenzetti on October 8 for her initial call on senior judicial officials in Argentina. Also present at the meeting were Supreme Court  Vice President Elena Highton and Justices Carmen Argibay, Enrique Petracchi and Juan Carlos Maqueda.

The Ambassador and Chief Justice Lorenzetti discussed the role and situation of the judiciary in Argentina today and ongoing cooperative efforts to share information related to the Chief Justice´s efforts to improve the administration of justice. The Ambassador noted with pleasure the ongoing cooperation among the Supreme Court, the Embassy, Fundacion Libra, and other organizations in the Justice Undergoing Change project, which is now entering its ninth year. Ambassador Martinez expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Chief Justice to ensure access to justice and the protection of human and civil rights. The Ambassador also highlighted another Supreme Court initiative – the Office against Domestic Violence – and noted the important work carried out by this office over the last year.

“I very much appreciate the leadership and efforts of Chief Justice Lorenzetti to ensure access to justice. It’s important that the judiciaries of Argentina and the U.S. continue to collaborate and learn from each other,” said Ambassador Martinez.
