Ambassador Vilma S. Martinez met with President of the “Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo”, Estela Barnes de Carlotto

Ambassador Vilma S. Martinez met with President of the “Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo”, Estela Barnes de Carlotto, on December 21.  Mrs. Carlotto spoke of her organization’s efforts to find their missing grandchildren, separated from their families during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship in Argentina. They also discussed Abuela’s outreach efforts, including in the United States, to raise awareness about their cause and the organization’s cooperation with the Argentine Government to bring to justice those individuals involved in the illegal appropriation of children.
