Ambassador Wayne in Mar del Plata

On February 26-27, Ambassador Wayne met with City Assembly President Marcelo Artime during his visit to Mar del Plata. The Ambassador and Mr. Artime toured the remodeled “Hotel Provincial” with businessman of hotel and media sectors Florencio Aldrey Iglesias. Ambassador Wayne also visited Coast Guard Headquarters. 

During the meeting with City Assembly President Artime, in charge of the city hall in absence of Mayor Gustavo Pulti, the Ambassador familiarized himself with city projects like the many ongoing public works such as the construction of a new bus terminal and 1,300 houses, and the repavement of principal city roads. The Ambassador and Mr. Artime also talked about the upcoming 5th Summit of Mayors of Latin America to be held on September 2-4, The summit is organized by the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Associations and is expecting 2,000 mayors and local government representatives from Latin America and other regions.  

During the summit, an exposition will be held where 200 businesses will be offering specific technological solutions to local problems.

The Ambassador also familiarized himself with future city plans and projects.

Ambassador Wayne sent his regards to Mayor Pulti. The Ambassador and Mr. Artime highlighted the excellent bilateral relation between both countries in general and the ties of friendship and cooperation with Mar del Plata in particular and committed to work together with President Obama’s  Administration to strengthen the bilateral relation. 

Finally, the Ambassador received an excellent report by Coast Guard officers on their mission in Mar del Plata and was pleased to visit the largest coast guard ship on harbor. The Ambassador praised the valuable work of the Coast Guard and offered his congratulations on the 147th Anniversary of the opening of the naval base in Mar del Plata.
