AMBASSADOR GUTIERREZ AND ARGENTINA'S SECRETARY OF THE ENVIRONMENT MEET TO REVIEW BILATERAL COOPERATION

Ambassador Lino Gutierrez met Wednesday, May 17, 2006, with Argentine Environmental Secretary Atilio Savino to discuss U. S. -Argentine cooperation in environmental affairs. During the meeting held at the Ministry of the Environment, Secretary Savino thanked the Ambassador for U.S. cooperation on a range of projects, including the identification of contaminated sites and the funding of initiatives aimed at lowering methane gas emissions. The Secretary also praised the work done in Argentina by Environmental Protection Agency official Mike Fritz, who is departing the country after three months working in the Environment Ministry on various projects. Fritz was participating in a U.S.-Argentina bilateral environmental exchange program.
