AMBASSADOR WAYNE MEETS WITH NATIONAL CHIEF JUSTICE
April 28, 2008

Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne with Chief Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti
Late April 28, Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne called on Chief Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti at the Palace of Justice. The Ambassador discussed several possible ways in which the US government could support exchanges between the judicial systems of Argentina and the United States, including cooperation with foundations and other non-government organizations which help build dialogue and learning opportunities between countries.

In this connection the Ambassador and President Lorenzetti discussed potential visits to judicial institutions of the US and Puerto Rico, digital videoconferences between experts and judicial experts in both countries and the value of visits by US judicial authorities and experts to Argentina.

At the Ambassador’s request Chief Justice Lorenzetti also described some recent innovations in court practices including the initiation of opening initial hearings on selected cases to the public. The Chief Justice also described the development of the National Plan on Judicial Management and Technology and the next steps to be followed for its implementation. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that Justice Agurby (spelling) would recover quickly and fully.
