LINCOLN MAYOR MEETS AMBASSADOR WAYNE
April 24, 2007

Ambassador Wayne met April 24 with Jorge Abel Fernandez, Mayor of the town of Lincoln in Buenos Aires province. Fernandez visited the Embassy to build on a relationship that began over 140 years ago with the naming of his city – which now boasts a population of 50,000 – in the aftermath of President Lincoln’s assassination. Fernandez pointed out to the ambassador that Lincoln is the only city in the world outside the US bearing the name of the ex-president.
