June 19, 2009

Charge d’Affaires Thomas Kelly received on June 19 two Argentine students travelling to the United States to participate in an intensive leadership seminar at Wingate University in North Carolina.

Lucila Martini from Cordoba and Maria Teresita Arrouzet from Neuquen, both 17 years-old, will travel tonight to the United States for one week to participate in the Free Enterprise Leadership Program (FELC) organized by the Jesse Helms Center at Wingate University in North Carolina.

The FELC program has proven effective to promote students’ understanding of business, personal responsibility and the opportunities available to them in the free enterprise system. The goal of the program is to promote education of business and community leaders who are actively involved in creating jobs and developing human resources.

Students will participate in different business activities including lessons on marketing, production, costs of doing business, profits and taxes. This program will also offer students the chance to participate in a “Virtual Trade Mission” (Internet based research project to promote a better understanding of the global economy), free enterprise strategies and learn from distinguished business, government and community leaders.
