EMBASSY HOSTS U.S. SPEAKER ON TRANSFORMATION OF LIBRARIES IN TODAY’S SOCIETY
April 17-20, 2006
Leslie Burger, President Elect of the American Library Association and Director of the Princeton Public Library, is participating in the Annual Conference of the Argentine Association of Graduate Librarians (ABGRA) in Buenos Aires. Ms. Burger was invited to be the key-note Speaker for the Opening Ceremony. Ms. Burger will also participate in discussions with ABGRA members on key library issues including citizens rights and access to information, measuring the quality of library work, intellectual property rights, and library services to culturally diverse audiences. The ABGRA conference is one of the most important gatherings of professional librarians in Latin America. More than 700 professionals from Argentina and other countries in the region participate each year. The ABGRA meeting is held during the Buenos Aires Book Fair, which is among the largest and most visited book fairs in the region.
