U.S. SENATOR LAUTENBERG IS RECEIVED BY PRESIDENT CRISTINA FERNANDEZ DE KIRCHNER
December 22, 2008

On December 22, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner received U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (NJ-Democrat), who was accompanied by the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission, Thomas Kelly.  Foreign Relations Minister Jorge Taiana and Argentine Ambassador to the U.S. Hector Timerman were present at the meeting.  They discussed a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations, regional issues, and prospects surrounding the incoming U.S. presidential administration.

“This fascinating discussion with President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was the high point of my holiday season.  I look forward to investing my energies to further enhance the positive relationship the United States shares with Argentina,” commented Senator Lautenberg.

In addition to working in politics, Senator Lautenberg is a successful businessman and in this regard, shared with the President that a company he once helped found has partnerships with Argentine firms in the area of accounting services.  This was part of a longer discussion about business and investment conditions, as well as global economic turmoil.

At the conclusion of the cordial conversation, Senator Lautenberg confirmed his commitment to supporting bilateral relations in every way possible.
