DEPUTY CHIEF OF MISSION TOM KELLY VISITS MENDOZA

Deputy Chief of Mission Tom Kelly and Public Affaris Officer Robert Howes visited the province of Mendoza on September 15-16. In the city of Mendoza, they met with Governor Celso Jacque to discuss the importance of educational exchanges and attracting US investments to the province. “We talked about [Governor Jaque’s] visit to Atlanta, where he had contacts with American companies to attract investments. We also talked about the strong bilateral relation and the ongoing need to promote educational, cultural, and scientific exchanges between Argentina and the US,” said Mr. Kelly. Later, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Howes traveled to San Rafael to present Sarmiento–Mann scholarship certificates to 21 students at SURICANA binational center. After the ceremony, Mr. Kelly gave a presentation on the US electoral process. On September 16, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Howes visited Fundacion Solidaridad, in the town of Lavalle. Fundacion Solidaridad has received funds from the Interamerican Foundation, a US Government agency, for projects to improve food security of farm families in northern Mendoza.
