AMBASSADOR WAYNE MEETS BUENOS AIRES PROVINCE GOVERNOR’S CHIEF OF STAFF JOSE SCIOLI

As part of a series of meetings to bid farewell to Argentine authorities and officials, Ambassador Wayne met on May 29 with Buenos Aires Province Governor’s Chief of Staff Jose Scioli. During the meeting, the Ambassador thanked the Governor’s Chief of Staff for the cooperation provided by the provincial government during his tenure as ambassador to Argentina over the last three years; especially in areas like drug and human trafficking, and family violence. The Ambassador also thanked the Governor’s Chief of Staff for his contributions to strengthen the bilateral relation. The Ambassador and the Chief of Staff also agreed on the importance of sustaining and expanding economic ties between the province of Buenos Aires and the United States.
Secretary General Scioli thanked the Ambassador on behalf of Buenos Aires Province Governor Daniel Scioli for his collaboration; particularly for having raised early during their meeting s his concern for the drug issue and the importance of fighting this growing scourge heads on. Fighting drug trafficking, according to the Chief of Staff, became an important issue in the Governor’s agenda at provincial level and has also turned into a national priority. “The fight against drug trafficking is established as an important part of the of the Governor’s public agenda. Drug seizures in Governor Scioli’s 17-months office, have exceeded the total amount of  drugs seized  in the last years,” said Chief of Staff José Scioli.
At the end of the meeting, Chief of Staff Scioli said good-bye to the Ambassador wishing him good luck in his new assignment as Coordinating Director of Development and Economic Affairs for civil aid programs in Afghanistan.
“I would like to thank you, Governor Scioli and your colleagues in the Province of Buenos Aries for the close cooperation during my mission in Argentina. My successor will certainly continue to strengthen our relation to keep fighting against social scourges like drugs, human trafficking and family violence, and also to continue to explore new areas of cooperation with the province,” said Ambassador Wayne at the end of the meeting.
