AMBASSADOR VILMA MARTINEZ MEETS WITH GOVERNOR JAQUE DURING HER VISIT TO MENDOZA
october 15, 2009

U.S. Ambassador Vilma S. Martinez visited the city of Mendoza on October 15 during her first trip to the interior after arriving in Argentina on September 18.

“I thank Governor Jaque for the warm reception during my first visit to an Argentine province”, said Ambassador Martinez and added: “I would like to know as much as I can about this country and the province of Mendoza is a great place to start”.

Ambassador Martinez attended U.S. former Vice President Al Gore’s presentation in the city of Mendoza and took advantage of the visit to meet local representatives from different sectors of society.

Ambassador Martinez met later with Governor Celso Jaque. The Ambassador and the Governor talked about the ongoing cooperation between the Embassy and the province in many fields like cultural exchanges, tourism and citizen safety.

After the meeting the Ambassador said: “I have heard great things about Mendoza and besides the ongoing cooperation between the Embassy and the province, I see great potential to be explored and opportunities to work on projects of common interest.”

In the afternoon, the Ambassador visited the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, talked with U.S. and Argentine students and had lunch with members of Fundación Contemporánea.
