AMBASSADOR VILMA MARTINEZ VISITS MINISTER OF JUSTICE, SECURITY, AND CIVIL RIGHTS, DR. JULIO ALAK

Ambassador Vilma Martinez visited with the Minister of Justice, Security, and Human Rights, Dr. Julio Alak on November 5. They exchanged their points of view about the strong bilateral cooperation that exists between the United States and Argentina in terms of enforcement.
Ambassador Martinez also highlighted the permanent support that the Embassy gives to Argentine initiatives to eliminate human trafficking and congratulated Argentina for the police recently rescuing of victims of trafficking. The Ambassador celebrated the Minister’s interest to increase cooperation against drug trafficking, highlighting the positive connections between the agencies of the U.S. government and their Argentine counterparts that include the Argentine Federal Police, the Infantry, the Coast Guard, and the Airport Police.
“The United States profoundly values the effective collaboration that the Argentine authorities undertake to combat terrorism and international drug trafficking, working to eliminate trafficking of persons, promoting human rights, and the security of its citizens. In these areas, both the Minister Alak as well as security forces under his Ministry are key partners.  It was a pleasure to visit the Minister and to begin, what I believe, will be a valuable alliance,” Ambassador said.
From the Minister’s point of view, he expressed interest in sharing information and joint training programs aimed at improving the capabilities of both countries to enhance people’s safety.
