May 21, 2007

US Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne met May 21 with a group of Argentine students who represented the country at Intel’s International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s largest pre-university science fair, which was held this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The 13 students from seven provinces, who were accompanied by their teachers, a representative of the Secretariat of Sciences, Technology and Innovative Production, and INTEL representative Javier Firpo, briefed the Ambassador on their projects and their enriching experiences at ISEF during the meeting. Many of the students commented in particular on the importance of the cultural exchange aspects of their visit. The Ambassador congratulated the youngsters on their hard work and for having been such outstanding representatives of their country. “Science and technology are key to the development of every country in the world, including Argentina,” said the Ambassador. He also praised INTEL for sponsoring the students’ participation in the Fair, in cooperation with Argentine national and provincial ministries of education.
