AMBASSADOR WAYNE MEETS OAS SECRETARY GENERAL INSULZA

Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne met this morning with OAS Secretary General José María Insulza on his visit to Buenos Aires.

During the encounter, they talked about the situation in Haiti and the Ambassador underscored the support given by the Argentine government to MINUSTAH. The Ambassador told Insulza that Argentina is a key contributor to peace-keeping forces in that Caribbean country and noted that the US works closely with Argentina´s Ministries of Defense and of Foreign Affairs to support such missions.  

The two also discussed the struggle against terrorism. The Ambassador pointed out that the US and Argentina enjoy excellent cooperation on counterterrorism.

Finally, they talked extensively about energy-related subjects – including supply, investment and alternative sources – as one of the major concerns for many countries of the region.
