AMBASSADOR WAYNE HOSTS ROUNDTABLE WITH INTERNATIONAL DONOR COMMUNITY
March 31, 2009
In conjunction with the Argentine Network for International Cooperation (RACI) and the Avina Foundation, Ambassador Wayne hosted on March 31 a roundtable with the international donor community to improve international assistance coordination in Argentina. The gathering brought together representatives from Embassies, multilateral development banks, and foundations based in Buenos Aires to share best practices and lessons learned in working with community-based organizations in Argentina, and to identify common challenges in maximizing the impact of development assistance in the country.
During the roundtable, the Ambassador announced that the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires will host a second annual NGO fair that will bring together international donors, foundations, foreign Embassies, and U.S. companies with NGOs, large and small, to foster new partnerships.
“We thank Ambassador Wayne on behalf of RACI for supporting this third meeting of the international donor community that promotes social investment in Argentina. We are convinced that in the face of the current global economic crisis it is very important that the countries, multilateral bodies and private charity institutions work together to develop a collective strategy to maximize development assistance in Argentina,” said RACI’s Executive Director Guillermo Correa.
“The United States is proud to partner once again with RACI and the AVINA Foundation for this important dialogue with the international donor community on how we can work together with local grassroots organizations to promote institutional strengthening, and social and economic progress in Argentina,” Ambassador Wayne said.
