Social Security and Federal Benefits Unit (FBU)
The FBU is open to the public, by appointment only, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. Please e-mail us to SJRegion@ssa.gov regarding your inquiry. If necessary, the FBU will schedule an appointment.

The Embassy is located in the Palermo neighborhood, city of Buenos Aires. The Plaza Italia Line D subway station is the nearest one.
Security at the Embassy: Please do not bring electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, iPods and Blackberries. They are not allowed on Embassy grounds. Other prohibited items include cigarettes, lighters, cosmetics, liquids, large bags, and packages.
The American Citizen Services Unit requires an appointment for all services.
For passport, notary, or other services provided by the ACS Unit (with the exception of Consular Reports of Birth Abroad), please click here. To make an appointment to register the birth of your child, please e-mail BuenosAires-ACS@state.gov.
If you arrive at the Embassy without an appointment, you will be asked to return after securing one.
