VISIT AND DONATION TO HOGAR PADRE MODELO
March 23, 2009
Ambassador Wayne visited the “Hogar Padre Modelo” on March 23. The Ambassador was received by the President of the Foundation Leon Ruiz Diaz and Foster Home Director Sergio Ricchetti. The Ambassador toured the foster home and the computer center accompanied by Mr. Diaz and Mr. Ricchetti. The teenagers living at the home are trained in this computer center which is also open to the general public.
"I am very impressed by the excellent work carried out by the Hogar Padre Modelo and by the warmth and dedication of their staff to help these girls and their kids not only by giving them support but also computer training that will lead them to a better future. It is worthy to note the sacrifices both of time and richness offered by these volunteers, especially in these difficult economic times." -- said Ambassador Wayne during his visit to the foster home.
Following the tour, Ambassador Wayne talked with the teenagers aged 14-20 living at the home with their children (13 children aged between 3 weeks and 3 years) and presented a donation of computers and computer equipment for the informatics center, furniture, mirrors and other study materials for the workshops given at the center on varied topics such as painting, tango, Italian, guitar, etc.
The Hogar Padre Modelo is a foster home for adolescent uncared-for and unprotected mothers who are not prepared to integrate into the community without previous training. The "Hogar Padre Modelo" is one of the programs coordinated by Fundación Nuestra Familia. The Foundation has more than 4,500 beneficiaries, including 17 soup kitchens for children mainly in the district of La Matanza, the Home and Day Care Center "Renacer" for mentally retarded patients and the health-care boat called "Mi Esperanza" (My Faith) providing health and social services to the population of the Delta islands, serving them with primary health services.
