JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH: TOP U.S. EXPERT SHARES IDEAS WITH ARGENTINES
April 26, 2006

On the occasion of Jazz Appreciation Month, the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires held a digital video conference April 26 with Dr. John Edward Hasse, the Smithsonian Institution's Curator of American Music. In a warm, two-way conversation, Argentine Jazz aficionados enjoyed Dr. Hasse's comments on how American values helped shaped the musical genre, as well as the special collection of jazz "treasures" housed at the Smithsonian. Highlights of the conversation included a review of Argentina's jazz greats and a nostalgic restrospective of visits to Buenos Aires of some by America's jazz greats.
