US SPEAKER IN ENGLISH TEACHING AT THE CYCLE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, BOOK FAIR 2009
May 4 - 5, 2009

Dr. Else Hamayan, former Director of the Illinois Resource Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois, was the US keynote Speaker for English Teaching at the 12th Cycle of Foreign Languages, an educational activity within the timeframe of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair on May 4th and 5th, 2009.  The session was attended by 550 English as a Foreign Languages (EFL) teachers from public and private institutions at all levels, as well as teachers of other languages.
Dr. Hamayan’s presented an interactive session on “Making Connections in Language Teaching: Tying Reading and Writing Together,” and a plenary session on “Literacy Instruction in a Foreign Language: From Research to Practice.”   Attendees valued Dr. Hamayan’s ability to present concepts in a dynamic way.  Her practical classroom ideas drawn from case studies were highly appreciated by the audiences.  The program was supported with materials produced by ECA English Language Office and IIP and books donated by Dr. Hamayan’s publisher.
