The Argentine Coast Guard together with the U.S. Military Group Argentina carried out the first ever Latin American Regional Training Course on Technical and Legal Matters Related to Moored or Sailing Ships Boarding Procedures to prevent and/or neutralize unlawful acts on May 18-22 in Zarate. The class included students from the Navies and Coast Guards of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay under the instruction of a combined group of Argentine and United States Coast Guard experts.

Throughout the week the students were trained in a curriculum specifically designed by the Argentina Coast Guard and U.S. Coast Guard to meet the needs of the regional partners and is the culmination of over two years of combined work. Topics included slip boarding techniques and inspections, crew and cargo verification to aid in combating illicit trafficking. This effort together with the added expertise of the regional partners was essential in insuring a successful exchange of ideas and experience that helps continue the understanding and cooperation between security forces throughout the Americas.
