John Anthony Gastright Jr., Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, discussed U.S. policy in Afghanistan with reporters in Argentina on April 7. During the digital video conference at the U.S. Embassy, DAS Gastright outlined U.S. efforts to help Afghanistan recover from years of war, establish a strong democracy, and provide security in cooperation with its allies. He also discussed the status of women and efforts to eradicate the drug trade.
