YOUNG ARGENTINE LEADERS TRAVEL TO U.S. TO STUDY U.S. POLITICAL SYSTEM
January 17, 2007
Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne met January 17 with 16 future Argentine leaders associated with the Fundación Universitaria del Río de la Plata (FURP). The U.S. Government has provided FURP members the opportunity to travel to the U.S. on a study tour for more than thirty years.
The group, whose members come from all across Argentina, will travel to Austin, Texas, to attend an academic program on the U.S. political system at the University of Texas. Following their two-week stay in Texas, they will travel to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia where they will exchange ideas with U.S. Government officials and youth leaders. The U.S. Embassy is committed to promoting deeper understanding between the U.S. and Argentina and in investing in Argentina's future by offering young Argentines the opportunity to develop their skills, expand their range of professional contacts, and share their new knowledge and expertise with their fellow countrymen.
