PRESIDENT OF THE DALLAS FEDERAL RESERVE BANK VISITS ARGENTINA

Richard W. Fisher, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, visited Buenos Aires April 19, 2006 to meet with senior financial officials of the Argentine Government and discuss regional economic conditions. Mr. Fisher serves as a member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve’s principal monetary policymaking group. While in Buenos Aires, Fisher held a press conference with economic journalists at the U.S. Embassy, where he discussed monetary policies in the hemisphere. During this session, he emphasized the importance of balancing sound fiscal and monetary policies to enhance economic growth that benefits all income groups in society.
